Re: How many here swim for fitness or competition?
BJE, don't be too hard on yourself for needing to stop and rest every now and then. There is no way I (or anyone, really) could swim the full 90-minute practice without a rest. Our coach builds in rest periods for us. Depending on the workout, we might rest every couple of minutes, or every 15 or so...

Re: How many here swim for fitness or competition?
I'm on a Masters team and swim 5-6 times/week. I'm biased, obviously, but I think it's one of the best ways to stay physically active. It's low impact, you can do it well into old age, and everyone likes a swimmer's physique.

Re: Sluggers
I've ordered 3 suits from them over the past 18 months, with mixed results. The first one was a S in their "old" style. This was before they started offering XS and the racerback. I found the fit to be much too generous, almost to the point of looking diaperish. Not flattering at all. The fabric, ho...

Re: Trying to get into swimming
I only started swimming for exercise about 3 years ago, after I took an adult swim class. I highly recommend lessons from a coach if you want to get into swimming regularly. You're not going to get as much out of it if you don't develop proper technique. You will end up tiring yourself out very quic...

Re: I might be wearing a speedo to the gym soon!
I wear speedos to the gym every day for lap swimming. I silently judge the guys who swim laps in boardshorts. Think of how inefficient that is! No one has ever made a comment to me about my speedos, and why should they? I am there to work out. Speedos are appropriate attire for swimming laps. It see...

What about this one? http://squeezedog.com/jan-high-cut-blue ... ikini.html
I ordered a suit from them a few months ago. It is one of my top 5 favorite suits, and I'm a big Solar fan. The shipping from the Netherlands was quick and the quality is good.

I bought a "2015 cut" in XS a few weeks ago; I'm still waiting for it to come in. I'll let you all know how it works out!

Re: Sluggers
I just got notification yesterday that they now have size XS available. I am thinking about trying them out again. Here's my general problem with fit, regardless of brand: My junk gets squished and ends up pushing the front out, becoming visible through the leg openings. Speedo Solars don't give me ...

Dave, When I went to Rio, I stuck to Ipanema beach. LOTS of guys in the classic Brazilian 'sungas' (square-cuts). Fewer in the speedo-style briefs. The only people wearing dork shorts were obviously tourists, and they were greatly outnumbered by locals. I didn't feel that Ipanema was particularly "t...

Contact the management company and complain. Have you seen women in bikinis at your complex's pool? If so, point it out in your communication. What you were wearing is no more/less "appropriate" than most women's swimsuits. Is there a college or university in your area? If so, you could look into pu...

Re: Sluggers
I bought a pair back in November. I found them to be too baggy, almost to the point of looking diaperish. I wear an XS in Aussiebum, but Sluggers only went as small as S. Also, the sides are too wide for my liking (a full 3"). Slim guys look better in something like 1.5-2". I e-mailed their customer...

I'm thin like you and agree that the 1.5" suit looks the best. Smaller sides elongate your legs and torso.
I don't know why Aussiebum stopped selling their 1.5" Loose without the WonderJock. I don't need the extra "push-up".

Re: Choosing the right speedo fabric
I, too, have had problems with the Speedo nylon/lycra blend fading over time. I bought two Solars in grey and navy and after two months they had both faded to a really unappealing "dusky pink" color. Disappointing, considering Speedo marketed them as "chlorine-resistant," although it could have bee...

Re: When did your love for speedos start?
I grew up in a small town in the middle of the USA. My dad has worn speedos since before I was born, so of course my first swimsuit was a red speedo. This was around 1990. I wore it to swim lessons at the local public pool. I was too young feel self-conscious about it, although I do vaguely remember...

Re: Always a G'day when wearing Speedos
Nice summary of what's available.
The Gregory pool is the best by far, but it's probably the least accessible in terms of location and membership opportunities.
