Thanks for all these responses! I just wore them this weekend to the pool with some friends and felt great! I want to only be wearing speedos moving forward. Time to get there!

My favourite pair is a 20 year old pair of Bruno Banani swim tangos, they're faded but still have some life in them, unfortunately I don't think Bruno Banani make this style anymore. Modus vivendi do a really nice low rise swim brief which is very flattering. I haven’t heard of modus vivendi before...

Lap swimming has helped me too. I find it harder to strip down to speedos on the beach or for hanging out in the pool when I’m not working out

I would say appearance, although the last pair I bought were more comfortable than previous ones. Some love them, some not so much! You will only know when you try a pair. Speedos exist mainly in swim training/ diving but trunks predominately worn every where beach, pools, lakes, hot pools.
I would wear speedos if u werent self conscious though

Hello! I’m new here and am headed to New Zealand on vacation. What’s the culture there around speedos? I’d love to wear them on the beach, at the pool, in hot springs, but how might people respond?
