G'day Guys,

Welcome to the Speedo Forum.

Re: Speedo Friendly Asian Countries - Any Tips?

The most "speedo friendly" country in Asia is China. It's very common to see men wearing speedos there, especially in Hong Kong.

Re: Speedos in Brazilian Television

This is one of the oldest records I've found of speedos on Brazilian television. It's from the prime acess telenovela "Canção para Isabel" [ENG: Song for Elizabeth], produced by the now-defunct Tupi Network in 1976. It was the network's penultimate black-and-white program. https://www.youtube.com/wa...

Re: Speedos in Brazilian Television

In 1993, the now-defunct Manchete Network produced a controversial miniseries about former Brazilian president Fernando Collor de Mello, who had been impeached for corruption the previous year. Unfortunately, the series was not aired because of a libel suit. The scene in which the former president i...

Re: Greetings from Brazil

Welcome, Pierre! I may have posted this before, a hilarious advertisement from sungalife.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGQ1KvEzaeQ It proclaims the superiority of sungas over board shorts, and dismisses speedos too. Squares vs triangles. While I don't agree with the last part, it's great tha...

Re: Greetings from Brazil

Hi and welcome! I was aware that Brazilian men wore much skimpier briefs years ago, but now the "standard" male swimwear is the sunga, and that any man wearing something skimpier is assumed to be a tourist. So it would be great to see more men wearing ever briefer suits again, but even so, the sung...

Which are the most speedo friendly countries today?

Apparently, the use of speedos has lost momentum in some countries over the last 20 or 25 years. But what about today, apart from Brazil, is there any country where the use of speedos is widespread?

Re: Speedos in Brazilian Television

Television in Brazil was and still is famous for its exuberant prime-time soap operas. This scene was taken from a 1997 production called "Anjo Mau" [Bad Angel in Portuguese], shown on Brazilian prime access [6:00pm]. The scene consists of a conversation between 3 or 4 women surrounding a handsome a...

No straight guys in Speedos, but lots walking the beach with their gf’s - usually in dork shorts.
Brazilian heterosexuals and some Latinos tend to wear speedos on Florida beaches.

Re: How Old Were You?

Well, I'm Brazilian and I'll be the forum's record holder: I received a speedo as a gift at 8 months old. Yes, I was a baby! And since then I haven't stopped using it. When I was a child, I remember not understanding why Macaulay Culkin didn't wear a speedo in "Home Alone 2", since the use of speedo...

Speedos in Brazilian Television

Brazil is almost a paradise for speedos, especially in the 80s and 90s, when the models were much more tiny and it was normal to see them on TV back then. With the end of federal censorship in October 1988, Brazilian television entered a very liberal phase that lasted until 2000. The Sunday game sho...

Re: Uncut Cock - Speedo VPL

I'm uncut like the vast majority of Brazilians [90~93% to be precise]. Nobody pulls out their foreskin to wear a speedo here, it doesn't make sense and it's even uncomfortable. The foreskin was given by God to protect the glans and I can't imagine being without it. I even have too much and I'd never...

Benvindo! Já nem o Brasil escapa à globalização dos shorts... :( Antes de tudo, obrigado! As for the "globalization of shorts", not so much. It's just that Brazilian speedos have become bigger and squarer. Until the end of the 90s it was like that: https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YIVixJvdgE4/VTXG1Lyxm-I...

Greetings from Brazil

I'm Brazilian, I live in João Pessoa, a coastal city with a Caribbean climate and beautiful beaches. I've been wearing speedos since I was a baby and I'm about to turn 33 years old. The use of speedos in Brazil is traditional, almost all men wear them and in some specific activities [such as the fir...
