I work as a lifeguard and a swimming teacher and I'm not allowed to wear just briefs, we are given shorts and t-shirt uniform to wear, as I imagine post pools and beaches do. If I'm wearing fabric shorts I can wear speedos underneath and feel fine. However, with denim jeans, chinos or shorts I find speedos quite uncomfortable.

I'll be honest, not a massive fan of that design.
It's been awhile since Speedo have brought out a new design that I've actually really liked. I think Nike, Adidas, TYR, Arena and Funky Trunks are making way better looking new designs.

Pretty much all my friends have seen me in my speedos, it's quite common knowledge among my circle of friends that I'm an avid speedo wearer when working and swimming. All the time! Especially in the winter months, I'd turn the heating up for a bit in the house and lounge about in trunks - or do the housework in speedos. Like you said - it makes you look forward to the summer months a little more.
