Re: What is the lining in the speedo for? And what difference does it make if you cut it out?

I've never had any suits that were "fully lined", front and back, like the TYR 2-inch suits. Is it possible to remove the lining from suits like that, or does it leave the suit baggy and stretched out?

Off the rack speedos--not much left

Do your local sporting goods store even carry swim briefs anymore? Of the 3 major chain sporting goods stores around here, only Scheels has generic black TYR briefs available. The other two only have jammers in stock next to the overflowing rows of women's swimwear. The local bicycle/triathlon speci...

Re: Swim Moms

But if you watch it on television, most of the time they repeat the jumps as soon as the women come out of the pool so we don't see how the swimsuit clings on their bodies. Typically you get a brief shot of the underwater camera, maybe a second of them climbing out, the replay, then them walking ac...

Re: Swim Moms

Have you ever noticed the swimsuit cuts for the girls? Holy cow they wear very high cut one piece suits and their asses are out there for everyone to see. When they get out of the water, most of them have a wedgie and they might or might not pull it out. Since it seems to be rampant with the girls,...

Re: American Guys in Speedos

If I had to put a number of adult male lap swimmers I see in speedos in a pool during lap swim at any given time, I'd call it 25%. 2 in 8, 1 in 4. Of course that is counting me also. 8) Not a majority, but not unknown/extinct by a longshot. I concur that a majority of high school/teenage male swim t...

Re: Seams on the back of the speedo?

Most briefs have a rear seam today, every one I have purchased for a while now. The premise is that it helps the suit hug your contours for better hydrodynamic efficiency. I don't like front seams either. That unfortunately makes the Speedo Solar a non-starter for me. Otherwise it'd be right up my a...

Re: Speedos and One-Pieces Swimsuits

Me and the Mrs. swim a lot, me in a brief and her in a one-piece. I'm trying to coax her in the direction of those "cheeky" workout suits. Nike and a boutique brand "Jolyn" are popular with swimmer girls, and some of them are almost thongs, which I can't get enough of. Yeah, swim workouts with your ...

Re: Lifespan of a Speedo

Surprised at the amount of washing going on. All I have ever done is rinse my speedos out thoroughly in the shower after a pool session. Then a Suitmate spin dry if available, otherwise a good squeeze (never wring) then air dry. Pretty easy, they're dry by the time I drive home.

Re: What is the lining in the speedo for? And what difference does it make if you cut it out?

Anyone ever ruin a new speedo trying to get a perfect, clean cut on the lining? Damn! I used to use a razor blade, pulling the lining as tight as possible, cutting it as close to the stitching as I could, and of course once in a while I'd cut too deep, into the main fabric. As you know then the whol...

Re: night swimming

I'm a member at Xperience Fitness, a midwest 24hr. health club chain that has 25m 2 or 3 lane pools at almost all their locations. I've swam later at night and it was refreshing. And yes, always in a more "agressive"speedo. But lately they've started closing the pool/steam room areas from midnight t...

Re: Wrestling

Back in my day, my HS team had some contrasting color, well, "leggings" you'd call them today, worn under the standard singlet. They were a heavy nylon--hot and borderline movement-constrictive. HATED them. So one match I said, screw it, not wearing 'em. Felt quick and limber as a cat and promptly w...

Re: Gym Class

In middle school we had a pool, and during the all too short-lived swimming classes, if you didn't bring swimwear yourself you were welcome to grab a nylon speedo from the pile on the shelf! Toss it in the "worn" box afterward to get washed. Some were pretty big and conservative, some were on the sm...

Your not allowed phones in swimming pool areas.
You can get thrown out of the leisure center for it.
I know, tell that to the punk kids everywhere. :x

Re: Reactions are not always bad

I recently had my first "negative" reaction in a long while recently; after a swim workout, me and Mrs. (who's a MEGA legit swimmer in her butt-wedgy Nike suit) went to relax in the hot tub. A group of pudgy teenage girls saw me in my Asics speedo and began snickering to each other. They tried to ge...

Re: Biking

Back in that glorious era when wearing a speedo for a whole triathlon was "in", guys have used various lubrication on the sides of bike saddles. I never had a problem because I pedaled kind of bow-legged, which I've since learned is terrible for aero, so I've tried to improve that. I still like to h...

Cycling shorts are typically designed and recommended to not have any undergarments worn under them. My Mrs. insists on wearing underwear with them, but is none the worse for wear.

Re: Skimpiest suit to swim laps

My all-time favorite suits are the Japanese briefs from tomsports.com and jpnswimming.com. Most of them have the sides listed as 3 to 3.5cm., but in reality if you downsize a little they can be much smaller than that. Material is usually 70% polyester/30% polyurethane, very thin and light, but durab...

As a triathlete, hardcore road cyclists, or "roadies", IMO, have a higher-than-average percentage of DICKS amongst them. Yes, this dick faction likes to bust on swimmers, runners, weightlifters, yogaists...well, everyone who isn't just like them. Maybe buying a $5,000+ piece of fitness equipment to ...

Regular Y swimmer, speedos on adult men are...the minority, but never had a problem. Even rec splashers and kids are less prone to head-turn at a speedo in the past few years. Besides, at least half of the swim-team teenage boys are wearing speedos to practice, the the teenage swimmer girls are wear...

Re: How many speedos are to many to own?

My current lineup is on the small side, only 4. But I really like them all and they are all used extensively. I hope to go the rest of the year without buying any more, but that never happens. :) I say as long as you have the storage space and purchasing them is not putting you in financial difficul...
