Hi & welcome. I'm from PA, and go to the NJ beaches, also. This early in the summer, the water still does cause allot of "shrinkage". But, sometimes even once the water has warmed up in August, a storm at sea will cause the water to turn icy!

Totally understand. At least the water feels refreshing during the crazy heat of the day. Winters must be tough up there for sure!!

Hey, live in Baltimore MD here. Oddly my tan lines come mainly from tubing with my friends but like most said the water is usually cold but that can be good for hot days.
