Tatts Too Many

Post by DaveSpeedoEvans » Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:06 pm

G'day Guys,

Those of you who have been long time fans/followers/members know that I'm not a huge fan of tattoos.

Maybe I'm a little bit too old for the current fad (which might have peaked?).

Growing up, the people who had tattoos were bikers, gang members, Vietnam Veterans or navy/sailors.  By the time I grew up, they had faded and I never saw the appeal myself.

The guy pictured below for example is stunningly hot.  But the tatts just don't do it for me.

I know some people love them and find them attractive... different strokes for different folks right?

Dave

Honestly, if a guy's that hot, I'll take him with tatts or no tatts. Nice pics! :P

If I find a chick or a guy hot, it really doesn't matter that much and honestly there were couple of times where their tats actually added to the whole attractive part.

Not a huge of tats either tbh. But I do like him, but with out tats even better. All over tats like Bieber has are a huge turn off for me.

On second thought, I'm not such a fan of tattoos that are coloured in with a lot of different colours. I think this can look messy fairly quickly. I think tattoos, if one must have them, should be restricted to clean lines and maybe one colour. For example, I don't think tattoos of Japanese calligraphy look bad. Or a small, neat symbol. You just don't want to look like a kid's colouring-in book at the end of the day.

Having said that, the bloke above - his work, though a bit busy in terms of detail and colour, seems to be quality work. :P

Personally I don't like tattoos today, but not because of how they look, but what they say about someone.

Once upon a time tattoos told you something interesting about their owner.

They told a story of a persons history, of their life, what they did, where'd they'd been, what they'd been through, where they worked, who they ran with. They evolved and were added to over time.

In the last 10 or so years a lot of (especially young) guys get half their body done in as quick a time as possible, with similar designs and no real thought to what each one means - because it became a trend. They got them because they were fashionable. Says to me that the wearer thinks they are a special flower but are just following the masses.

An interesting perspective, swimshark. You raise some good points. :P

On a different note, I've just noticed how fucking bright that speedo is - look at the colours! Wow!

Good point. My grandfather ran away to sea at sixteen. He had an anchor tattooed to his arm that showed he was sailor. He lived to 92, In his later years, his tattoo got more and more blurred. These huge tattoos that might look so artful now will get less and less defined.

I'm not a real fan either. In the pic you posted, the lad has a really beautiful lean body. No matter what I do, I'll never look like that. The tattoos distract from that awesome physique.

As I mentioned in my previous post, my grandfather had a tattoo anchor because, in his youth, he was a sailor. (He retired as an obituary editor!). In his later years, the tattoo blurred badly. These tattoos may blur to an amorphous ink blob. I don't even want to think how much it would cost to have them removed.

Here's Olympic swimming champion. Caeleb Dressel. This angle doesn't give the full impact of the tattoo. To be honest, those abs are unnatural. He looks like an android. Picture credit, Speedo USA website.

Fun and interesting topic guys.

It is a good thing that we like different things but can still appreciate a beautiful guy wearing a speedo.

Here is a guy that is a little more my style... but would he be as naughty as the guy in the apple speedo?

Tatts can be mega horny but they need to fit with the guy's body and I agree that one colour looks better. I'm a fan of guys with what used to be called- hardly very specific- "Tribal tattoo's", where you'd have a curved abstract pattern of blades that helped define a guys muscles.

This guy's might be a bit overkill but he shows the kind of thing I like.

You don't have to be mega ripped to get away with it. I think this lad's tats are a massive part of his sex appeal.

I've even got a place for all over tats, providing they are done right. Logan Mcree rocks it well,

Nick Hawk doesn't.

My real bug bear are lads that have a bit here and a bit there. Maybe some joined up writing across their pecs and someone who looks like Amy Winehouse on their thigh. It's like they use their bodies for doodling. I scribble things on my hand in biro but it's not like I'm gonna go out and have "Bread, bird feed, toothpaste" tattoo'd on me!

I guess the modern trend for massive tats tells people that the wearer: has the balls and endurance to take pain for a very long time and the money to pay for it.

Personally, I don't think tattoos say anything about someone anymore, which is probably the point you're making too.

I think in past generations, "respectable" people frowned on tatts because it meant the tattoo-wearer was a very rough customer indeed, possibly a member of a criminal gang, or a salty old sailor or something. Rough and tough and vulgar.

Nowadays, any old people can collect their welfare payment and go get a tattoo or ten. So, yes, you're right. Tattoos have lost their meaning. They no longer represent anything about a person's life experiences. They're a fashion accessory for what Australians call "bogans". (Uncultured people living in the suburbs who waste money on stupid stuff).

I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo myself. The really big ones look messy. And if a guy's hot when he's first inked, is he gonna stay hot so the ink keeps looking good? On the other hand, when hot women like Angelina Jolie get discreet dates of her children's birthdays tattooed on her back, I think that's sexy and meaningful. So there's an exception to every rule. :P

This guy is flawless. A veritable Adonis. I'd hire him if I were a fashion photographer or an artist. But his body is honestly ... too good. Can somebody be too handsome to be interesting? :P

I'd guess not. Something smaller would probably stay better defined. But these massive ones. I just don't know. I keep thinking of my grandfather and his anchor. He never talked about it. I wish I had asked him when and where he got it.

I have noticed the tribal ones. Below is one that does relate to the dude's anatomy. There's some history behind the designs.

Yup, tribal ones are meaningful - providing you actually belong to a tribe. :P
