Jammers - am I a traitor?

Post by PeterSF » Fri Dec 30, 2016 1:21 pm

For years I have always swum in speedos and told other people to do the same; I've said they look great, feel great and are next best to swimming naked. And I've accumulated a small collection…! A couple of months back I was in the pool with someone wearing jammers, changing afterwards I said I'd tried them a couple of years back, but hadn't got on with them. He swum really smoothly in his, and they certainly looked good - afterwards I thought, I should try them again.

Which I did, and since then have only worn speedos once or twice (and then brief trunks, not 'proper' speedos), and haven't enjoyed going back to them. For me tight-fitting jammers feel so good in the water, I think I swim better; they also look and feel good out of the pool (I think so, anyhow). I should say I swim lengths in an indoor pool, probably in the sea, or even an open-air pool in a warmer climate than UK in winter posting.php?mode=post&f=4&sid=46254b4dc ... d1af7476a3# might be different.

Anyone else care to admit similarly, or otherwise? Attaching a pic of 1 of the 2 pairs I've got.

Yep. I also wear jammers (I'll see if I have any pics of me in my jammers to post) more often than speedos with my collection being about 50-50 between jammers and speedos. Before I get chased off with pitch forks I'll put forward my reasoning. I basically settled on the jammers as a halfway between speedos and dorkshorts at the local pools. As I'm still not up to swimming laps, but hate board shorts and even the shorter water shorts (with speedos underneath) when in the pool. But that still doesn't stop the majority of guys I've seen doing laps in board shorts well past there knees being the norm.
Although as I've posted before, considering jammers are supposed to be not as revealing I've still had nasty/bitchy/gay comments at the pool when wearing them. Maybe it has being something to do with looking a lot younger than I actually am so therefore an easy target? And I've only worn speeds a few times when the pool on there own (and even then being only one of two wearers in the pool) or under water shorts with a 'mate' who classed all guys in lycra swimwear as gay. Little did he know about the 'gay' speedos being worn under the shorts buy the guy with him in the pool.
That's not to say I'm totally a fan of jammers though. I hate how for my waist size witch is borderline kids/adults the elastic on the legs pitch at my thighs. And as I'm a bit on the tall side (for once being tall and thin has an advantage when it comes to swimming) even the adult sized ones (only an inch between kids and adults) are slight too short in the leg to finish just above my knees.
But personally I absolutely love swimming and wearing the speedso, without the extra fabric on my legs I can feel the water so much better and it almost feels as if I'm not wearing anything. Just a shame it seam the others that use the local pools are narrow minded sheep that dictate there own options on what others can and can't wear.

I have a few Asian jammers that are tight and low and anatomically cut, like a speedo with legs. I don't really like the ones with the seam down the middle, the ball splitter cut. Compared to speedos they feel like I'm wearing a shorty wet suit. Still, in certain settings, they have their place. I wore one of my anatomically cut ones to an office beach party. A couple people said that they were shocked (they literally said "shocked.") that at my I age I looked good in them. Kind of a back-handed compliment, but still...

For me, it's all about fully exposing the thighs, and feeling a small and tight suit barely snugging up against my ass, so jammers are a non-starter. And I'm not a serious swimmer anyway so their qualities that others like them for are lost on me. Aesthetically though, I think they look best when they end up an inch or two above the knee, and look great on someone with muscular thighs. Like it took some effort to pull and stretch to get them on past those thighs. And I'd much rather see a pool full of guys swimming in jammers than loose, long board shorts.

Thanks - interesting. I swim 0.8-1km/day, all or nearly front crawl, so a bit different perspective from Karlos - except that I can't imagine how anyone swims seriously in boardies. Attaching a quick pic of myself in 1 of my 2 pairs of jammers, the other being the Speedo with red design I posted originally (but a pic I found online, not me!) which feel much tighter in the water than these. I'm - so far - resisting the temptation to build a collection.

You should be banned from these pages immediately!

Seriously the posts above show you are not alone.

I also will admit to owning a pair of jammers, for wearing on the (very few) occasions when I feel speedos are not appropriate, because I do not own a pair of boardies.

The other time I wear jammers, and I know that there is no logic in this, is in the middle of winter when I go to the pool. If it is really cold and wet or snowy, I wear jammers because it does not feel as cold as just putting on speedos!

I have a pair of navy blue TYR which i will post when I have time if anyone is interested.

I love both they kind of complement each other for me. When I swim I'll maybe take two pairs of budgy smugglers or one pair and a pair of jammers and then just wear whatever pair I feel like when I get there, maybe I'll be in a "Speedo mood" or a jammer mood. Like Karlos though I am a very thin waist size (28", bitches!) and I do find that the slim sizes can pinch my thighs at the hem.
My preference is for ones with what Thom calls the anatomical cut that are like Speedo's with legs. Basically there is one triangle piece for your valuable assets and then the legs are stitched onto these, like the lad with Ryan Lochte in the photo. Image So you still get a good bulge and you don't get your bollocks flayed by a central seam. I do have a Slazenger pair though with a central seam only and they are sexy as.
The feel is different to swimming in Speedo's, it is a different quality of swimming but swimming isn't my main sporting activity so I don't do it regular enough to know which is the "Best" for my swimming performance.
I think they can be just as sexy as speedo's but they flatter in different ways. Jammers I think suit lads who are a bit stockier, Speedo's suit guys who are slimmer. I remember the first guy I ever saw in Jammers, 20+ years ago, they were a faded purple pair and they looked really provocative and edgy, even though they were covering more skin. Very sexy and I didn't see anyone else in them for years, now they are pretty common with serious swimmers.
I have a pair of navy blue TYR which i will post when I have time if anyone is interested.
And yeah, I want to see Scottiebum in his navy jammers!

Traitor !!! not really, I guess you must wear what you feel comfortable in
As for me......
Briefs all the way, be they FINIS, Speedo or TYR.
FINIS here make a local selection and fit well, nice variety of patterns of which I own a few
Speedo here is a combination of import and local content, mainly solid colours like, green, blue, red, basic black and sheer black which are nice.
TYR are imported and I have the Digi prints in purple and camo, both awesome to wear
Then a local brand called Spitz are well made and fit nice, mainly in patterns which I have a UK and USA flag print and then kinda like a multi colour leopard print which are nice but could be abit OT, not that I care and rarely wear them as they are no longer available so I'm sparing them regular use
I have around 20 pairs of different makes and pattern prints, I like variety as I hate regular routine.
Prices hear vary from insane to dirt cheap and if one is prepared to wait and be patient you can pick up Speedos for R80 that's like $4
Hope to post some pics soon, time permitting and I know most will dig the FINIS Eclipse as they are rare and awesome.

Was reading a post where in the UK they ridiculed the briefs, boy.... are they lucky I'm not there as I take that kind of behavior very seriously and I doubt they would say a word to me due to my solid build and no shit attitude, here there's never been a issue as the pool I use sees a large variety of people and we have a constitution that protects all and it seems everyone respects it, its rather odd though to see Muslim people jumping in the pool fully clothed next to a guy or woman in skimpy swimwear, I guess its all about tolerance and respect for each other as I'm not offended that they wear full islamic swimwear.
Oh yeah, to end it all I tried Jammers and no can do, I have somehow managed to hang onto a Speedo Square cut only cos they fit awesome and are rather cheeky, haven't worn them for a while though.
so yeah, briefs all the way, guess its cos I wear brief under wear (Tanga style - best ever) less is good
Cheers from a hot, sunny and humid Durban, SA
Happy new year all

I own two pairs of jammers and rarely wear them for swimming. Not really impressed with the feel and would rather go for a pair of smaller, tighter Speedos over them anytime for my 40 laps. Although I will admit that they sort of do look kind of hot on some of the younger guys with the right type of body ...

I don't believe your a traitor. When I was younger I wore jammers for club when I swam. Around 12-13yo I decided to try speedos and to be honest I liked both. I wore jammers more during meets more beacuse I didn't shave down/didn't have time to shave down. I personally liked it better when you shave down and then wear speedos, I feel it makes you faster.

I agree not a traitor- I have a pair of jammers I wear sometimes as well but like swimdude said it's a great feeling hitting the water shaved down in a small tight pair of briefs!

Of course not! Any compression clothing that shows off the male figure, is a plus. I own one pair of Jammers, along with tons of compression leggings when I work out in a dry environment. I jokingly consider my workout space a "No Chafing Zone' (laughs)

PeterSF,

No need to apologize for your post or your view at all, this is what the forum is about.

Today, in Breckenridge, Colorado, on a Sunday afternoon I went for a swim at the local pool. Lots of people around and nobody in a speedo, zero. I had a speedo under my jammers but I just went with the jammers. I didn't feel odd at all and in the water they feel pretty similar to wearing a speedo. In the spirit of this forum and my business (www.SwimmerBoyz.com), I feel like a pussy but it was just more appropriate.

Dave
I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest speedo enthusiast on the planet.

Yep, you look hot in them Scottie.
I've decided to swim in jammers everytime for the next couple of weeks, inspired by this thread I guess.
Don't really feel much different so far, the only sig thing is that both the pairs I've worn so far are very low cut so there was just a little bit of arse cleavage peeping out when I bent over for grab dives.
Feel more comfortable wearing my cock to one side rather than down. So this meant that my piercing bump was just visible 8)

The real irony about wearing jammers as "more appropriate" is that a lot of jammers seem to show more bulge detail than a lot of speedos
