I have to say I have never worn my speedo in front of my mate as he always say that it is just wrong now on my own or with my wife if we are anyware that no one knows me I have no problems with being naked or in speedos
Anyway a few weeks ago we were at the beach in Poole in the UK so I thought hear goes so under my shorts I had on my white speedos (see avatar ) my mate had his usual knee length swimming shorts on, we settled down on the beach so I said I was going for a swim so off came the shorts and vest and off I went a moment later my mate joined me he never said anything the thing is when we got back from swimming we both walked to a shop to get some drinks me still in my speedo all he said was your showing quite a bulge I just laughed it off it was good feeling though the moral is be confident and Wear what you want.

Wow, it amazes me a bit that people think like this.

I've always worn speedos, still wear speedos, anybody and everybody has seen me in speedos, some of my friends wear speedos, they're always called something else (eg Budgy Smugglers, Dick Stickers etc) but I've never had anything negative about them. Actually, the brand Budgy Smugglers are helping to bring them back again with manly designs for all of us extroverts! I remember having the chat with my bro = speedos at the pool, Boardies at the beach. I still do speedos at the beach.
Ditto..... LOL !!!

I went camping on the beach with one of my friends a few nights ago. Once it got dark I was tired of wearing my wet swim trunks so I said to him how I wear speedos under my shorts because they hold everything together. He said that they would be way more comfortable than than board shorts so I then decided to take off my shorts and I spent the rest of the night wearing my aussiebum port seas and a shirt (I don't like going shirtless). He never really said anything and since it was dark it didn't look really different than if I was wearing my shorts. In the morning I had to go in the water for a little bit and I took off my shirt and went it my aussiebums only. He laughed at me, but that was really it. I don't know though if I'd still wear them around him in the day time.
Just a straight guy who likes speedos and aussiebums

Went boating and stopped in a cove to swim/bathe and I took my shorts off to reveal my swim jammer. My buddy says, " is that a Speedo "? I proudly said , "yes it is"!
This year I want to wear my briefs...

I wear speedos around friends on vacations, and the only thing anyone really ever says is 'I wish I had the confidence/courage to wear a suit like that' or something to that effect. Unfortunately I haven't inspired or convinced any of them to take up speedos too (yet) but you should go for it

I ONLY ever want to see you in a speedo. If you wear it all the other times, i'd wear one. If they get disgusted so be it. just take the speedo off if they fuss and wash it on your abs...
Love speedos and spandex almost as much as I love cocks shooting cum.

I recently went to the beach with a couple of girl friends. One knew I wore speedos but the other one didn't. After getting settled in I asked the other one if she cared that I stripped down to just my speedo. She didn't mind at all, so the rest of the day was spent in just my speedo. So much more comfortable than board shorts!!

I love that picture you posted to this comment, speed-oh! It so perfectly illustrates how much cleaner, sleeker, and downright cooler a speedo looks than those stupid baggy, wrinkly trunks! We all know how much more free and comfortable it is to wear a speedo. The suits on the other two guys just look so heavy and bothersome. The drag in and out of the water in those things is the worst! Speedos are efficient, elegant, and awesome!

I wouldn't care if my gay friends saw me in one, but not my other friends or family. When my physique is where I want it to be then maybe I wouldn't care if my friends or family saw me.
Assuming that's you in the avatar @sthozguy81 I think you have the physique. :)

I've gotten a sort of reputation, both with friends, colleagues as well as some family. Suffice to say, I've been able to pull it off by simply not caring and at times putting myself out there without having any shame. It helps that I do compete fairly regularly in both swimming events but also triathlon. No one I know has 'lectured' me about wearing speedos - probably because they know they'll lose that debate in a public setting.

I think looking amazing in one also helps a lot. having the physique you have eliminates most of the tired excuses others would employ to object to your wearing a speedo.

Everyone I know has seen me in speedos multiple times. It's no big deal. It is after all, swimwear, and I have approximately 140 of them. Different styles and cuts for different occasions.

Since I last posted in this thread my wife and I were at our athletic club pool, me in a speedo, after a hot day at an air show watching the Blue Angles etc. While we were there a family from my Taekwondo group also came to cool off at the pool at ter the air show. No comments were made about my suit and everyone just acted normal. Even their kids didn't comment. No big deal. The wife of the other couple was wearing a pretty skimpy bikini so she couldn't have said much about what I was wearing.

BJE,

I completely understand where you are coming from. Here in Aussie speedos aren't frowned upon per see but in certain circumstances, among certain friends wouldn't be appropriate.

Your club sounds pretty nice - time time I'm headed to the states I'll have to ask you where it is.

My friends don't care that I wear speedos. I've gotten some to switch to them too.

Based on the photos you've shared, dude, you have absolutely nothing to worry about as is. ;)

I'd say that in my entire life I've not seen more than a handful of men wearing speedos other than lap swimmers and those occasions were while I was on vacation somewhere, not locally.

I'd guess that most of the people who see me in a speedo have never seen another man in a speedo in person ever.
Saw this post and it made me think of swimming in Flathead Lake in Montana, decades ago on a trip back home to the east coast from Oregon. I was in my twenties. My sister was with me. I don't recall feeling at all self-conscious about scampering from my tent and diving off the end of the dock. I recall the water was really cold, but I was more hot blooded then. Maybe the seventies were more liberated than today. It's one of my better memories. I think I was wearing a blue and white nylon splice Speedo that lasted for years. White Stag owned the U.S. Speedo trademark then, and they were based in Portland, OR. There were a lot of guys in speedos at the University of Oregon pool. I had a nylon print suit in the Oregon green and yellow.
