Ideal physique

Post by BJE » Wed Sep 13, 2017 5:17 pm

What would you all consider to be the ideal male physique? As for myself I'd say very lean and muscular, but not excessively muscular. I think a decent amount of muscle looks good but too much makes a man look to bulky. At least this is the look I'm working toward.

An example would be something like this.

This for example is too bulky for my liking.

I agree, however I couldn't find a good picture to represent a skinnier look. I think the look might be correctly called skinny ripped.

Here's a video I did at age 49, about three years ago of my skinny ripped look. https://youtu.be/SCvTMR57CJY

Thank you. I was going to say that I'd put my body up against the bodies of most men in their 20s and 30s but that wouldn't sound right. What I mean is there is a great prevalence of young men in lousy shape.

"Skinny-ripped" would be the "swimmers body". We see it in all the photos here where the subject is poolside and has a pair of goggles in his hand. It's the wide shoulders, large cut pecs, abs, medium biceps, narrow butt, well defined thighs and skinny calves. You can see every muscle he owns.
This type body can stay good into his senior years if the owner cares for it properly. I think we see some of that around here in the avatars...

I have big chest. I can bench-press 135kg (298 lbs) personal best. I've had some compliments :-)

My opinion is arm muscles that show without flexing and really amazing pecs, for the abs I kind of like the either ripped, baby abs (bottom pic), or the slight belly look (top pic).

All the guys pictured look great, don't get me wrong. I just prefer guys who look fit but natural - I guess my fantasy is bumping into a regular guy with a nice-enough body who happens to hang out in speedos. :P

Just wondering what looks unnatural about the guys pictured other than the second one I posted to demonstrate too bulky?

Maybe you could post an example of "fit but natural".

"Natural" just means hasn't been the gym in six months. Didn't mean to upset anyone. Your physique, BJE. is of course exquisite! :P

It seems like you describe the guy in the C-in2 underwear above.

My ideal physique is slim and toned.
Unlike me fat and knackered. Lol.

I found this on the Internet.
I am not sure if this is what everyone was thinking of.
If it isn't I will delete this reply.
I would call that an immature adolescent body. Common among teenage boys but uncommon among men because if men are at least a little athletic they naturally build a larger physique and if not they become fat or skinny fat.

I agree, the teen shown hasn't been doing any physical training, swim team or farm work yet. Pretty common but not as much as the heavier, flabbier gamers of today. We really need to get physical fitness education back into style.

I agree that the youth of today are in a sad state as far as physical fitness is concerned. Check out this video. This is how school physical fitness programs should be operated.

Note: the shorts they are wearing are the length of shorts I wore in high school. Why is it that for the past twenty some odd years guys are all wearing shorts down below their knees?
