Cosmopolitan Keeping Track of Olympic Bulges

Post by shadowmn » Mon Jan 15, 2018 4:50 am

Glad to see that the writers of Cosmo are giving speedos some positive attention instead of the usual "Speedos are gross" nonsense.

Just a straight guy that enjoys wearing speedos. Life is too short, enjoy wearing what you want.

It seems that the bulge in speedos is less conspicuous than the bulges in other types of clothing. However it all just shows that men are men. Correspondingly you could show a bunch of pictures of Olympic women with breast bulges but somehow that is considered normal while male bulges are generally considered indecent.

I just really don't understand the speedo hate from straight women. You'd think they want to see more than just a wet thirtles guy. We're they trained to hate their own sexuality?

I think most women in the world have never given a second thought about speedos. Im sure if we took a worldwide poll, they would be indiferent.

Its also known that americanw are extreamly conservative as a whole in regards to sexuality. Im sure that the prevalence of conservative american coulture in todays media (movies, music, pop culture) has something to do with worldwide "speedo shaming"

Talk to the same gals after a couple glasses of wine at Ladies Night at Fred's. Becomes apparent that there is a lust for sexy guys. It's often quite repressed though. Most of them don't get eye candy regularly, do they?

It seems awfully unfair that guys generally enjoy looking at women but women don't really enjoy looking at males!

America does seem to have a conservative culture and baggy shorts (when a speedo or fitted shorts would do) give the impression the wearer is uncomfortable with his body. Maybe a lot of men don't have great legs/thighs?

I think there's a lot of speedo acceptance and pride in Latin America - Brazil, etc.

Swimmy, I suspect you're hitting dead-on to something here. While men are "allowed" to express primal ("naughty") and aesthetic ("nice") approval of the female form, the lasses are only permitted the latter -- aside from after the couple glasses of wine at Ladies Night.

Madame Prudishness clearly has outstayed her welcome and overstepped her bounds (if she ever had any). Men do NOT require permission to be males and don't need to dress or otherwise behave as if apologetic for their maleness.

So guys, wear what is comfortable and practical to you when swimming/sunning. Bonus feature with minimal swim briefs: Zero chance of destroying electronics, whether key fob or mobile phone!

Cosmo has done a lot of Speedo-friendly stuff--pictorials on "hot" male swimmers and divers around Olympic time, etc. It's nice to see from one of the most, um, progressive womens periodicals.

Speedo acceptance is as high as I have seen it in a long time. To women, hot dudes are hot dudes. And if they have an athletic background, they are definitely into it.

Cosmopolitan Keeping Track of Olympic Bulges

Post by Fbt » Tue Jan 16, 2018 8:40 am

I think all of you guys bring up some very valuable points!

I feel like a speedo is a man’s version of “lingerie”.

I feel like if women in general would let themselves go, they would obviously like to see a guy in more revealing attire.

They go nuts over the Chippendales that only rock jeans that still cover half of their body’s.

Why wouldn’t they go nuts over a guy with just a speedo on?

I would have to say it depends on the environment. Women seem to appreciate a man wearing speedos or something else skimpy if it's for an athletic event, strip tease, or bedroom surprise. There are also some that enjoy a fit man that displays confidence on the beach. Confidence is key as many of us has said, but there will always be haters of our beloved speedo.

I've read a nterviews of women who say that penises look gross so I guess not every woman wants to see a penis.

I agree.

Once I reached the age where I was buying my stuff I have always worn speedos and briefs, thongs and jockstrap for underwear. Some girlfriends were surprised but quickly liked it while others started buying me even skimpier/sexier stuff. I think a big part of it is confidence. A girl sees you are confident (but not arrogant or self obsessed) and they probably feel comfortable sexualising their man a bit.

In America I have heard lots of women say they hate speedos but I have also heard the some women make comments in the office re various hot celebrities etc - so they are looking and commenting on guys in a sexual way.

Also a couple of the same women who have bagged speedos in a group have seen pictures on my FB page of me in speedos (not the focus of the picture but you can tell) on holiday and made some very positive comments on the side

If women aren't that hung up on penises, what aspects of males do they like exactly?

It's been proven in polls that women are most attracted to the swim bod, that being the V-torso: wide shoulders, pronounced lats, good pecs, flat gut/abs, narrow hips. The muscle jock build came in second place, but almost half the votes of the swimmer physique.

So gals like swimmers, just not what he wears to get into his toned V-shaped condition. God that's confusing!

I would have thought that even if a woman does not like the look of a penis, a nice tight bulge (with no VPL) in a speedo on a fit guy would be attractive to them.
To me anyway a bit of clothing like a onepiece suit can be as sexy or more sexy than naked.
