Going hiking or camping? Don a speedo?

Anybody else see this article? I’ve never thought about it. I think during the summer depending on the speedo you are wearing that you might get hot in your crotch. Either way, I’m glad to see speedos get positive reviews. I’m going camping this weekend...

I was wearing speedo's as underwear all the time when I used to work outside regularly in the summer. I had them under all manner of shorts and trousers. They really make great underwear in those situations as suggested by that article. It really is great to see good press like this.

Just goes to show we have been doing the right thing all along. Well, at least we have got the excuse covered.

I wear speedos as underwear more times than not. They are extremely comfortable for all day wear.

Step One: Hiking in speedo underwear.
Step Two: Hiking in speedo.

I like summer hiking in shorts, commando, but there's dilemma. Often along the trail there may be a lake with an opportunity to swim. The best option is skinny dip, which is the easy ultimate quick drying suit. But if that is not possible due to circumstances, then wearing a speedo under the shorts is an option. A thin low suit is best, at most a liner in the front, so as not to get too hot. But then after the swim it a pain to hike in a wet suit, and there may not be time to dry it off. The remaining choices are to change in and out of the speedo at the lake, boring, or just wear the speedo for both hiking and swimming. Weather permitting. I haven't done that yet but its on my list. I'd like to hike a bamboo forest in a light tropical rain. I did do a lot of swimming on a September backpacking trip, but it was all skinny dip. Didn't get out the speedo.

I don't know if I'd be more uncomfortable wearing a speedo or skinny dipping in a public lake or river.
