No. You can wear swimming truncks, as Thom said it, it's shorts that are forbidden. The reason is it's not only wear exclusively for the pool, but also for everyday life. Started doing laps at the pool with my friend and wearing them under shorts. After a year I got another pair online but were too big on me so plucked up the courage to ask my friend if he wanted them. The next time we went swimming he was wearing the speedos I gave him and so I took off my shorts and just wore mine as well. Ever since then they’ve become my normal togs and everything else feels weird.
I don’t own any other types of togs, I have speedos for lap swimming and different speedos I wear to the beach and hot pools. Haven’t worn board shorts to the beach for at least 5 years now and wear speedos around lots of family and friends like they’re normal togs
