Adult or Junior speedos

Post by gx0100 » Tue Aug 05, 2014 11:41 pm

I was looking for a pair of red Speedos the other day and every pair I found came in waist sizes 36" and 42" only.
On the results page on Amazon, though, one other red pair appeared but it was a 'junior' endurance brief.
Seeing that I have a small waist (28"-30") and the junior sizes were available in 28" and 30" I've been wondering whether I should go for it and buy a pair.

My question is, though, despite the fact the waist size seems right, does anybody know if junior Speedos are suitable for adults? I'm talking in terms of the crotch, really. Do they allow space for developped genitalia?! A friend of mine bought a youth pair of jogging pants by Nike and complained those weren't suitable for adults as they didn't really have room for his junk!

In my experience - no. When I was a 30" i used to sometimes pick up juniors on accident but they were just too small in all areas, smaller leg-holes, less fabric around the crotch and the butt, just wasn't comfortable.

Thanks for the reply! They're pretty cheap though so I'm tempted to see what they're like anyway... :-)
I do love a red Speedo!

I also happen to be a skinny guy with a 28" waist. From experience a juniors 28" speedo normally fits, but only if the liner is removed in the front to allow it to stretch and cover everything up front. So obviously not that practical for certain situations and being more see through when wet, But going a size up to a 30" normally solves that problem.

The other annoying problem with going for junior sizes, as I've found recently looking for a few pairs of jammers. The waist and fit might be fine, but as they are meant for kids they are a little short in the leg.
Although I've found the maru brand seam to be an inch longer in the leg than the speedo brand, but surprisingly I found no difference at all between (both laid on top of each other and worn) a pair of 28" junior maro jammers and pair of 28" adults maro jammers, expect for the price difference.

Thanks, karlos. Really helpful. From your avatar, it looks like we have quite a similar build so I might get the 30" junior pair tomorrow and let you know how they fit :-)

Depends if they are endurance fabric or nylon/lycra blend aka traditional fabric
I have a small waist and backside, albeit a not as flat as I would like stomach...so I wear 32" waist trousers and a 28 or 30" speedo
28" endurance is a nightmare to fit due to lack of stretch, even being slightly smaller than average in terms of "junk"
Junior 28" in "traditional" nylon lycra fabric fits fine...

Very late follow-up, but here are a few photos of me in the junior speedos in case anyone else had been wondering the same thing as I had. As you can see, there is room in the front but not much (particularly for anybody who is well-endowed) so not for polite company, maybe!! But for sunbathing in the back yard they're fine.

Sticking with 28" adult sizes in future though.

I agree with gx's post. I am 31 waist, but if you like your speedos tight then junior sixes do have enough 'cock n ball' room. But yes, maybe not for swimming or public viewings! Photo is of junior sizing suit

Tighter fit the better for me (well as long as everything is covered...) I like everything firmly held in place

The tighter ones look better and there is nothing wrong to wear them at the beach or at a pool.

Thanks for that, cape boy. Appreciate it! Especially as I'm lacking in confidence about my physique at the moment.

Confidence comes from within. You truly look good in them. Just go to a gym and swim and gain confidence. My first times at the pool were uncomfortable but exciting all at the same time. It's been years now and I walk around and talk with people in my speedo and never think twice about it.
