It’s been a slow mission creep to demonise men showing their ‘manliness’ since the late ‘80s. Speedos and speedo wearers became figures of fun in the media. Imagine body shaming a woman who wears a bikini. You’d be castigated. Poke fun at a guy- perfectly acceptable.
Good point.

I'm 28, be 29 in a few months, I started wearing speedos, when I was 22 and wen't on vacation to Brazil and wore a Sunga the entire time. When I came home I continued to wear them just under my shorts, didn't have the confidence to wear them around friends and family in my small town. At 27 summer 2020 I started wearing them around friends, and some family, and for swimming laps. Now I wear them full-time.

I'm 31. When I was student, I took swim lesson (as I couldn't really swim). First I took a trunk, but I finally bought a brief. I don't really remember the true reason, but I guess that excited me more than a trunk.

Now, I try to go weekly at the pool. I wore trunk first, but brief are better to swim. And I often see men wear that at the pool, guess it's more practice.

No board shorts allowed!

Les redoutables "board shorts" sont interdits.

34 here and a proud Speedo wearer!
As for why more younger guys don't wear them... I assume it's a mixture of factors including preconceptions about them being for older men, a lack of widespread use of Speedos by celebrities of our generation, more body perception issues due to social media and Photoshop...then there's the classic penis size concerns, and maybe some guys think they'll be judged on what sort of package they've got!

No. You can wear swimming truncks, as Thom said it, it's shorts that are forbidden. The reason is it's not only wear exclusively for the pool, but also for everyday life. It's just a hygiene matter.

I’m early 30’s and been wearing speedos regularly since about 24.

Started doing laps at the pool with my friend and wearing them under shorts. After a year I got another pair online but were too big on me so plucked up the courage to ask my friend if he wanted them. The next time we went swimming he was wearing the speedos I gave him and so I took off my shorts and just wore mine as well. Ever since then they’ve become my normal togs and everything else feels weird.

I don’t own any other types of togs, I have speedos for lap swimming and different speedos I wear to the beach and hot pools. Haven’t worn board shorts to the beach for at least 5 years now and wear speedos around lots of family and friends like they’re normal togs

Just been chatting to a young (early 30s) guy on Grindr here in the UK who saw my red speedo profile pic and liked what he saw. Sent me some pics of him in his, skimpy green number but regrets being unable to take some decent photos of himself in his. Oh if only someone he knew had a decent digital SLR camera… oh yes, me! Hope to arrange a shoot with him in speedos soon. Whether he wears, I wear, or we both wear is to be decided.
