I shave my legs, but that comes from wanting to show off more definition in the gym. But I've got several friends normal guys don't wear speedos but shave their arms and legs for the same reason. In Austin there's Hippy Hollow which is a nude beach so speedos are acceptable, actually I never had any issues wearing speedos in Texas. Also Barton Springs pool is a really nice public natural pool.

Looks like a small track style short. I found a pair by Reebok at a store a while back back. It's a poly material this looks more like nylon, but it's a similar cut it looks like.

When I was in Brazil guys mostly wear what Carioca Wear calls traditional, and classic. The more Speedo styles are seen more with tourists from Australia and also on the more "gay" area of the beach.
