Take a look at this video and it looks like most of the guys are in speedos or 1980s style swim
suits.

Speedos in Brazil have been a staple on the beach for years. My first visit was when the suits we now refer to as a "Rio" cut was the popular suit. Virtually every guy on the beach had on one of those skimpy bikinis and it was pure eye candy. I've worn speedos all my life and was comfortable, but when I got one of those suits there I really felt exposed at first. I brought back several and got a lot of head turns when I wore them. Not sure what the thought was, but I loved the tan I got. On my last trip they were wearing those God awful sungas -- ugh!!

Well I understand your point but I'd much rather live in a world where all the guys wear sungas than one where they all wear knee length board shorts. But I have also wondered what kind of reaction a tourist there would get if he wears a very skimpy suit like a 1" sided low rise japanese cut while all the native guys are wearing their full sungas.
And then also, any culture that would invent the string bikini and micro thong and fio dental for women has my ever lasting gratitude. Just gotta love them Brazilians!
