Speedo holiday

Just back from a week in the sun, european island off Africa.

Of course speedos all the way, blue and red arena, royal blue ab classic and navy/white WJ ab.

Sadly out of a large hotel I was the only speedo wearer I saw all week, there were one or two square cuts. However I was not aware of any reaction to walking around the pool or emerging from the sea adjacent to the pool area. I started with the ab classic, the blue arena and then the bright red arena. The WJ suit does hang pretty low at the front so I did not wear it in front of families but wore it for morning swims before most arrived.

One day we went on a catamaran trip with several dozen others. This stopped for a while to allow some sea swimming and jumping off the boat. All the other guys were already in board shorts so went in like that. The girls stripped off to tiny bikinis with thongs. I just stood up in the middle and dropped my (short) shorts to reveal my blue arena briefs which I swam in and then lay on the deck after to dry.

Great fun but sad not to see any other speedo wearers.

Thanks for the encouragement. Wife and I are going to Cairo and staying at a hotel then taking a cruise at the Nile’s, I am planing to pack one or two pair of speedos. I am not sure if wearing a speedo at the hotel pool is okay. I would see what other people wears I guess.

No experience of that area but would think if there is wide mix of nationalities at the hotel it will be ok.

I don't know about Cairo, but in Egyptian cities frequented by Russians, such as Hugharda and Sham-el-Sheik, it's relatively normal to see men in speedos.

Thank you I will check my tour itinerary and see if we are visiting any of those cities. We depart to Cairo in 10 more days!

Returned to the same location this summer.

Red and blue Arena Santamarias in the pool and sea. As last year went swimming from a wildlife sail. Quite happy to strip off to speedos and then lie on deck in the sun after the swim.

Also wore a thong for my early swim, before most people were about apart from hotel staff setting up for the day.

There were a few more speedos this year, and some square cuts. I think most were from eastern europe. One day there was a younger guy in a red speedo when I was wearing my red one. While we were walking between pool and lounger we crossed paths and he did not make much effort to hide his glances at me!

'mon the speedos!

Did you get a lot of looks from the staff when you were at the pool in the early mornings wearing your thong?

No, not at all. Certainly not that I saw.

This year, during my vacation, I decided to only wear my speedos, and I loved it. I was in Phuket, Thailand, then Bali. I never had any issues. Even on the dive boat, I just wore my speedo and ever saw one other guy in them. On the beach, I saw 3-5 people in speedos and a few in square-cut suits each day. I never encountered any problems the entire month I was there.

I ended my recent vacation on Lake Michigan with a visit to the Ohio Street beach in downtown Chicago, where I noticed three other guys in speedos working on their tans and enjoying the lake and the view. No big deal, but good to see. Myself, I rocked a Turbo water polo brief depicting a colorful battle between a tiger and a dragon.
It always amazes me that most adults in the water stand around there knee deep or hip deep, not swimming. The same is true it seems at almost every recreational beach, not just at this one. The fact that I really enjoy the swimming makes me feel more unusual than the fact I wear a speedo, which is of course the perfect outfit for it. The feel of moving through the water, different strokes, and back

floating to take in the great view. A lifeguard in a row boat came over and told me to stick closer to the beach. Also she said that the open water clubs go the distance close to the sea wall along in front of the skyscrapers.
My wife and I visited other beaches on the lake in both Michigan and Wisconsin, but I saw only one other speedo, a guy at what appeared to be a family party. Most of these beaches were sparsely populated, not a good sample. But, as always, it is totally acceptable, as if anyone here is in doubt

I've never had an issue wearing a speedo on any beach in Chicago. Not many others out there unless you go to the more gay friendly beaches further up the lakefront

One guy at Ohio St. was rocking a bright pink brief writ large with the Addicted logo, . Good for him.

After Ohio St beach, we jumped onto the #147 shoreline bus and rode north past so many beach parks I hadn’t known existed. I’d like to go back (summer only) to check them out. Earlier in the trip we had been on beaches on both the Wisconsin and the Michigan side, so much fine sand and clear water for rocking speedos

Scottie, what European islands off the coast of Africa were you visiting two years I a row, (if you don’t mind me asking)? The Canarias and Madeira come to mind. I’d like to visit there some day but wouldn’t know where to start. I’m really surprised you didn’t see more speedos. Cararias especially, laid back Spanish culture, has a reputation for clothing optional options. Just wear your tan!

I’m also interested in tne Red Sea destinations, like Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada mentioned earlier in this thread, for the coral reefs.
