Indeed. If trying to promote them for straight guys, maybe a few pictures of speedo guys with their female partner?

I think Australia has done it right... it's the very masculine, rugby players that are always at the beach in their speedos showing off their athletic physiques and getting the girls (and guys) attention.
The men like to look, and compare their bods.
The women like to look, and admire the hot bods.

Here's hoping that article's right - and my neighbors (at least the fit ones) join me in AussieBums in the neighborhood pool!

Yes have to agree, not the best choice !!

Here’s a recent pic of Jennifer lopez doing a photo shoot for a commercial in Florida last week that could have been more encouraging for everyone lol.

Yeah, I doubt that first pic of the two guys about to embrace is very helpful towards the thread subject. "Straight women embracing the speedo", and jlo appearing like it's normal, now we're talking. It's too bad the photographer and assistants weren't also pictured wearing speedos. Bet you'd get some volunteers happy to help normalize them then!

I'm Bi myself & have been embracing Briefs since I was 10. I compete in Bodybuilding (I'm 33) & to me, briefs are second nature.
Just raise your head up & be proud while wearing them!

These articles come out every few years, but usually say nothing new. I'll believe it's a trend when something comes out in the pop culture (TV, movies, photos etc) with a guy wearing a speedo in a non-competitive environment like at a beach or pool party, etc and is not all about a guy wearing a speedo or not overly focused, poking fun at, or making a big deal about it.

Good point! I will believe it when I see the young crew at the pool or beach ditch their dork shorts (and underwear!) for briefs.

Yes this too. Watch any beach walk videos on YouTube from Europe or Asia and most of the casual speedo wearers are older, and few and far between. 99.9% of the younger guys are in dork shorts.

I recently went into a swimwear shop just off the beach, and was chatting with the salesperson. He said he gets tons of straight couples who come in together, and the guy always makes out like he’s only buying a swim brief because his wife wants him to, but he can tell the guy is really into it.

I wear them and find it such a turn on when i come into contact with a hot girl get so aroused

Ah well, whatever the excuse at least they are wearing a speedo!

There's a few stories that the media can trot out regularly that seem to write themselves, without it being obviously recycled content; the John Lewis Christmas ad, dogs outside polling stations, planes landing sideways at Leeds n Bradford airport (Summer storms, also waves breaking over trains at Dawlish), straight guy's embracing Speedo's comes round each summer. Sometimes there'll be a PR company survey so that this amazing trend can be quantified. Generally I think this is a vehicle to get some male eye candy in the press and if there's a survey then it's probably done in the hope of shifting some extra beachwear before the winter stock comes in. It's also a bit of a non-story because I missed the official announcement that Speedo's were gay, maybe there never was an announcement. I also swam each morning for years at a pool that was Speedo city and horny as fuck (For me) but the only Speedo guy I got to have sex with there was my own boyfriend. Mostly a straight environment me thinks. Despite all the Speedo's

Just chiming in as a new (straight) member to say that the NY Times article (Skimpy Men’s Swimsuits Are Making a Splash) gave me the push I needed to go order one and give it a try!

Ended up going with the Speedo Jetstream retro looking one.



Haven't worn it out yet but tried it on and I think I look great! Definitely sits lower and has smaller outseam than I was expecting for my first one, though :D
