Are thongs mainstream now?

I swim a few times a week at the local community pool and always wear a Speedo. In the past, I was often the only guy wearing a swim brief, but for the last year or so it's been about 50/50 jammers and Speedos.

A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally packed a swim thong instead of one of my regular suits. Nothing special, just a black, lined thong with a drawstring that looks like a Speedo from the front, which is why I didn't notice. I didn't realize my mistake until I was in the locker room. Rather than skip swimming that day, I decided "why not?" and wore it. I was a little worried there might be a negative reaction, but no one said anything. I've been wearing thongs to the pool ever since.

Is anyone else wearing thongs to swim laps? Have you seen other people wearing them at your pool?

CockSox,

I love your bravery mate! The only thong in my lycra collection sounds similar to yours. I really haven't worn it much and I don't want to mess with my speedo tanline.

Dave

I have a couple, but haven't worn them out. Usually reserved for private settings.

Dave, I’m all about the tan line…don’t want to mess my line up by wearing the w.ring gear. I like a 2.5-2.75inch side and am afraid wider or narrower will muddle my line. I’m not a thing guy.

I don't own any thongs for swimming, just for underwear. Maybe if I were a better swimmer, I'd be more confident wearing a swim thong to do laps. Thongs work great as underwear for dryland workouts, I'd imagine they'd be the same for lap swims

Anyone follow Christian Ocean and his attempts to mainstream skimpy thongs? His YouTube stuff is quite PG, his onlyfans stuff less so.

There is a swim brief brand called Lahua, sold on some ebay outlets. They have 3 styles of briefs--"triangle" which are kind of standard rear coverage, "half hip" which is quite cheeky, and straight-up thong. They're all quite brief with narrow sides. Lots of colors and prints. They're just nylon/spandex but they've held up fairly well to swimming and are relatively cheap. I bought a couple of half-hip briefs, and I've only worn them a couple times, in just the right time, place, with the right people around. I just don't have the guts to wear them regularly. But that's as close to a thong as I would wear.

I'd definitely say they're mainstream on women now. Have only seen a couple on my female neighbors at my community's rec pool, but probably headed towards 50/50 on women at the public beaches locally. Since I'm almost always the only guy in a speedo at either place, and don't wear thongs, I've only ever seen them on a guy once at the beach, and he was at a pretty remote area. He probably saw me and thought "oh no someone's approaching; wait he's in speedo, it's fine."

I've followed him for a while, and I envy his confidence! I do think sometimes he gets away with it because he's either rocking the thong at gay-centered events or his wife is with him, which helps to take some of the stigma off. It also helps that his body his nice to look at 8)
