Are mens' thighs now indecent?

I was watching a football/soccer match on telly which was a recording of England v Scotland played in 1977. My wife remarked that the players' shorts were 'kinky'. I never thought about it like that. Yes, I suppose they were quite short, and the same applied for other sports back then such as rugby, tennis, athletics etc. And of course in swimming, the costumes were very brief. Now everyone wears shorts down to their knees, including swimmers. That makes no sense logically as the conditions are much different, which kind of explains why men don't wear tops to go swimming. So why is it okay to have a bare chest but not bare legs?
I've always thought that exposing genitalia and buttocks was indecent, but not thighs as well.
I can just see a woman approaching a police officer saying 'Officer, that man flashed at me!'
'What did he expose, madam?'
'He showed me his.. his..... thighs!!!' gasp.............

I know what you mean. I even have a hard time buying shorts, they're all up to the knees. I don't have chicken legs and when it's hot, I wish the shorts were a bit above my knees.

I'm a heterosexual male who wears whatever I want, wherever I want, and that includes shorts that show a pretty decent amount of thigh. No amount of disapproving looks or comments is going to change that; especially since I receive a much greater number of approving looks and compliments from females. I'm willing to bet the little s***s with their pot bellies and their undefined muscle tone covering themselves in their dork shorts who are always ready to call someone a f** based on what he is wearing probably never receive any outstanding attention from females, and have probably never had sex with a woman while she is sober.
I was coming back from the beach a couple of weeks ago where a bunch of local school kids got on the same train. The school seemed to mostly be made up of Samoan/Maori islander boys, and part of their sports uniform seemed to be traditional mid-thigh football shorts. Let me tell you, by the size of these kids, if any idiot tried to call them f**s based on what they were wearing, he'd regret it after waking up in the intensive care unit!
