Shaving and hair removal creams

Hey guys,

I searched the archives here and read the threads I could find on hair removal, seems you all mostly shave or use Magic Shave cream (can't get that here in NZ).

I'm just considering options for some of my body hair... I've had half my legs waxed once, and I was killing myself the whole time wondering why I didn't opt for the cream instead (mind you, the pain is only while it's happening, but I fail to see why women even consider waxing); laser is out of my price range; and that pretty much leaves shaving or hair removal cream!

I've also tried a bit of shaving and clippering on my leg hairs before, but what I found/what I'm afraid of is that the stubble that will result would cause pilling on underwear, speedos, and anything not hard-wearing like jeans or drill shorts. I've got a pair of nylon boxers that are all pilled and have pulled threads on one leg because of clippering...

Anyhow, I'm considering some hair removal cream, but since that only removes it down to the skin (much like shaving), wouldn't this result in the same effect? Ie, my speedos would be ruined around the leg openings, boxers would end up with pulled threads and/or pilling, and I'd have to consider going commando under denim until my regrowth softened...

Anyone got much experience or advice regarding this?

Here is my experience although some of the swimmers will have more to say than i do I think.

The magic shave cream, really takes it down below the skin a bit I think, like waxing does. Its a deplitory, yes the spelling is wrong. So the growth should take longer than just shaving. I have never had the regrowth snag any clothes, undies, speedos, etc... so I'm not sure how to help in that respect.
If you shave be careful, don't use soap. You can get razor burn and in growns from shaving, but not always.

Hope I helped a little bit.

At the advice of some of the true swimmers on the board here (I love my speedos, but I do not consider myself a competitive swimmer) I have tried the Magic Shave cream with great success.

I love the way it leaves me very very smooth . . . (others like it too).

Now it does cause some ingrowns which you just have to deal with - but so would ANY type of hair removal product - even shaving. I personally like to continue to use a loofah for a while after Magic Shaving and it seems to keep most of the ingrowns under control.

Depilatories will blunt the end of the hair unlike shaving or clipping that leaves the end a sharp spike, so you will be less likely to snag and abrade your clothing.
