Nike swim brief sizing

I have searched the board and could not find any info on Nike swim brief sizing. I purchase a Nike blue swim brief in size 30. I am waist size 30-31, sometime 32 in pants, so I usually buy a swim brief in size 28-30, especially the American brands like Nike and Speedo which seem to be cut a little bigger that Asian brands like Seobean. The problem is when I tie the string it does not fit completely fit snug. It feels like it would come off in rough ocean water or pushing off the side of a swimming pool. So I tied it a little tighter and the waist gathered at the front and it does not look good. I assume I should go down to the next lowest waist size which I believe is 28. Can anyone help me with the sizing for Nike swim brief? Perhaps this may be a mislabeled item or is Nike just cut a little bigger. Any tips or advice?

Nike is cut bigger. I am a 33 and the 32 waist can fit me a bit tight. But that is because I also have a big ass.
