Help identifying a Speedo

Post by vladimir » Sat Feb 26, 2011 3:04 pm

Hey guys, newbie here!

I have been looking for a certain Speedo style for ages but never had a single luck. The nearest I've gotten in having an ID is when Dave posted this on Aussie Speedo Guy (click for link).

The one I'm looking for is almost of the same style: same side with the same type of drawstring and a Speedo logo at the front. The one I'm looking for however had a seam in the middle, both in front and at the back.

I think it's a older style of Speedo as it has been years ago since I last saw it and it may have already been discontinued by Speedo, but even just an identification or a name of the style would be good enough for me. Thanks guys! :P

the pic in the link looks like the Aquablade. It's an old pic since it's got the old speedo logo. but the aquablade doesn't have seams at the front, only at the back.

the only speedo (that I know of anyway) that has seams both front and back is the speedo solar.

couple of links of the solar:

or you can google it.

Hey zee, thanks for the help!

Indeed it seems to be an Aquablade; I just wanted to check if Aquablade has the same drawstring as that in the link I posted. Can anyone confirm? From what I know, most Speedo nowadays have a white drawstring... somehow the multi-colored drawstring in the picture favors my fancy

So what I'm looking for is something like an Aquablade with the seam in front too! :P

I'm sure it's not a Solar as Solars have different seam (see here) compared to what I'm looking for which is nearer to that of Aquablade's (see here).

Do you know any place where I can get old/previous/out-of-production Speedo styles aside from ebay?

the aquablade is easily identified by the stripes of the fabric..
there is a forum topic on this suit under speedo shopping "aquablade"

good luck to find your suit

I don't think Aquablade ever had a seam down the front - so I'm thinking the aquablade isn't the suit you want -

After seeing the Aquablade, I got into thinking that my memory of the suit must've been wrong. The thing is, I remember the suit having a big Speedo logo in the middle (as in the first image I posted) on one side, on which one I can't remember. If the suit had a seam in both the front and the back, it must have crossed the logo in the middle and that wouldn't probably be a good design.

Given that, the suit must probably had only a single seam so perhaps it's indeed an Aquablade. The only difference I can notice from the pics in the Aquablade thread is that the suit didn't have stripes and the drawstring was multi-colored, exactly like the pic I originally posted. Actually, it could have been the actual suit I'm looking for, only the seam was not visible as it was in the back!

The only thing now is: where do I find old/discontinued styles of Speedos?! :?:
