Just received a swimsuit bought from Ebay. The original listing have no where mentioning the name Aussiebum, it only shown real photos of the swimsuit. For US $10

It came with the standard Aussiebum plastic bag, and the suit looks and feel real with tags  . Seller from China.

The question is, is it real? Did someone took the suits from the factory and sell on Ebay for profit ?? :?:

I was in a shop in Chelsea (NYC) a few months ago. They were selling tons of counterfeit aussiebum suits. I could tell because the color options were different, the material was different from ones that I own and the price was way less than what others charge for AB in the states. As long as the material is good and fit is right, enjoy!

Hi NJ!

I'm guessing they are copies that are counterfeit. Some can look really real.

China can make good stuff without copying. Yingfa is a Chinese brand. I have a pair of their jammers. They fit well and are made with a licensed fabric.. Run small like Asian suits. I think I read where the company was started by a man who had been a competitive swimmer in China.

That is the sad part. China can make a quality product but instead of establishing a reputation for quality or a line to compete with Andrew Christian or Aussiebum, the make poor quality copies. I had a pair of the copy Aussiebum nylon. The touch of the nylon was the first clue, but after two wearings the side seam split because of the bad nylon. (seam was in tact, the material shredded) Besides wasting my money, it also gave the impression to those that saw the split suit that Aussiebum makes a bad product.
It seems that they have the impression that the western world will settle for inferior products. First they are contracted by Walmart and the likes to make low quality items with second rate materials so they must think we won't notice.
Unfortunately it isn't just clothing they cut corners on. I read about a hotel that was supposed to be 40 stories but had to stop at 20 because the steel from China was not capable of supporting it. They also had issues with the imported cement. Personally I can stand for a split seam in a swimsuit, but not so forgiving with the building I am sleeping in.

In this economy, a US $55+ suit is too much to reach for me. And I always like this suit. It's price never came down. Waited too long, this swimsuit was finally sold out and not available.

One day I came across this item on Ebay, I knew it's fake. I decided to spend a little just for the desire of owning it.

Thats the interesting thing about the Yingfa suits. They are clearly Chinese...one of the few things you can buy with a Chinese brandname and they are well made. I haven't bot the speedo type but the jammer I bot is as good as the ones made in Japan and the sizing is the same. But like you say...a lot of stuff is lame. Or even life-threatening like bad steel, phoney prescription drugs, and stuff with poisonous melamine in it like baby formula. Why would anyone want to poison a baby!!!

I have bought 4 of these recently. 4 different suits from 4 different sellers. I have to say, if they are fake, then they are damned good at what they do. They have everything down to the little red Aussiebum tag on the side. A couple of the ads even had the Aussiebum logo whited out in the pictures but i could still tell cus i spend alot of time on their site. Its the same font, red logo tags, and waist ties with the logo. Pretty damned convincing and the fabric feels right to me. I got one that was a gray/white/black camo print which i havnt seen on their site since i started looking at it. My guess is that alot of these are either NOS (new old stock) that never sold, or are factory seconds. One of the auctions is for the "league" style suit but the picture shows "09". The current League section on Aussiebum shows the League swimwear with "12" on the hip. Its my guess that this number changes every year? If this is the case then the ones being auctioned now are 3 years old. This would support my thought about the NOS sales. Iv wore the suits, Iv got them wet and they seem right to me. I figured that for 10 bucks, it was hard to go wrong.

I agree with you, it looks "damned good".
But I believe they are more likely counterfeit products. Since Aussiebums were made in Australia. And the sellers were from China. An e-mail to Aussiebum can confirm it.
