Speedos in Cabo, Mexico?

Post by runswimlove » Sun Jan 12, 2014 11:34 am

Hey guys,

My friends and I are going on a trip to Cabo, Mexico soon and since I've never been there I'm wondering how common speedos are there? I'd just wear them to the beach anyway but has anyone been there who can tell me how accepted speedos are there?

Thanks!

I have found that Mexicans are very tolerant of speeds briefs & even g strings at the beach is long as you are not trying to schock people with a woody Americans are not so liberal but you wear them anyway esspecially if you have a fair to good body Europeans will wear anything & not afraid to At a posh hotel pool I will wear them but more on a concervative cut & let the woman google & the men have something to talk about At a secuded beach anything goes French Canadians will wear anything even the ones with a terrible body just to have fun Just wear then & make us proud & have a good time & drink lots of good beer or fancy drinks I have posted before that Puerto Vallarta is the place to wear any kind of speedos with Cancun a close second Have fun

Thanks, so it sounds like speedos are at least a little more common in Mexico than in the U.S.? Is there anyone who has been to Cabo or the surrounding area that can testify to this?

Talking about this, Playa del Carmen is a very speedos friendly place...Although 15% uses speedos, people doesn´t care. I think this is because it´s a place plenty of foreigners all over the year; Europeans, Russians, Canadians...

Cabo could be more "american influenced" but I can bet this place have other countries people there and doesn´t care about "tourists" I would rock speedos and began a fashion-trend...or whatever...Be my guest heheh

Old thread, common topic, "is <destination> speedo-friendly?"
I was in San José del Cabo in Baja a week ago, prior to hurricane Norma. Luckily it faded to a tropical storm before it hit, unlike hurricane Otis that hit Acapulco at category five.
My wife and I were in the water in the ocean for hours, swimming, snorkeling and taking sun, as well as in the hotel pool/hot tub. I wear only speedos, specifically briefs by Turbo, Q, Hardcore, and Dolfin. No problems whatsoever with either Gringos or Mexicans out to enjoy the water or the sun. Nothing negative whatsoever. We had taken a water taxi from Cabo San Lucas out to Pelican rock/beach for snorkeling, and there was another guy there in a red patterned Speedo. We met as I was coming out of the water and he was going in, so we had a chance to share a thumbs' up. Kind of a secret club. The other guy I met was wearing a thong in the company of a couple of gals, out on the huge deserted beach at Cabo Pulmo. Same greeting, in passing a shaka, the sign of camaraderie. Cabo Pulmo is a marine National Marine Park that lies at the end of an hours' drive on a barely improved dirt road north of San José. There are a lot of tour options at the settlement of Cabo Pulmo. Unfortunately, we could't go out far on the reef due to conditions in advance of the storm.
