Offered Speedos and got rejected

Post by SpeedoSimone » Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:53 am

So something funny happened at the public pool yesterday.

I was just about to go into the locker room and get changed into my speedos. On my way to the locker room I saw the lifeguard arguing with someone who clearly is a foreigner. The man, who was in his 30s, was accompanied by a boy. The argument seemed to be about proper swimming attire, as the boy was wearing his boxer briefs and the man was wearing a t-shirt and bermuda shorts. Yeah, not boardshorts, but bermuda shorts. You could tell that both had already jumped into the pool as they were soaking wet.

The lifeguard was trying to explain that he could'nt swim fully clothed, but the man spoke just a bit of german and didn't understand. As a foreigner myself, I felt compeled to help the man in need. I always carry a spare speedo in case an emergency arises, so I thought I could offer them. I approach the man in need and inform him that I got a extra pair of speedos and ask if he wishes to use them. He looks at me, stares down at my speedos, points at them with his index finger and says in bad german: "That kind of suit? No, I don't want". The man, since he did'nt have a suit to swim with was escorted out of the pool.

Its crazy that some people rather not wear a speedo than have a nice time in the pool with your kid.

Crazy indeed, surely they can see that the norm is correct attire for a pool is there for a reason.
We're having the same problem at our local pool, foreigners out of town and wanna be quick olympic swimmers jumping into pool in their manky boxers and other rubbish is a no no, I'm no supervisor but I tell them off, don't care if I offend as I'm not interested in their feces floating in the pool, apart from that I wonder how often they change and wash.........

I kinda like the Japanese way of public pools, you have to shower on the premises before going to swim and have to 100% wear correct swimwear, I feel this seems like its the only way forward and solution to a potentially dangerous health problem
Or as in this case they get told to get out which I have seen happen a few times but not enough, think I'll make an official complaint

If we can do then everybody else can do it......no compromise

I was surprised he rejected the swim suit just for being a swim brief. Maybe he thought they weren't clean, in his opinion. I thought Germans wore swim briefs. Maybe we should follow the rules of Japanese pools.

Germans most definitely wear speedos. Or at least they did whenever I saw one on the beach in the early 1990s.
