Opinion on Budgy Smuggler suits

Post by MISwimmer » Fri Apr 10, 2020 1:14 pm

My apologies if this has been posted/discussed before, what do people think of the cut and fit of the Budgy Smuggler suits from Australia? I love the colors and prints and funny combinations, but not sure I like the cut. I prefer 2.5”-3” sides —anybody have an opinion based on their personal experiences? Thanks!

Have you got any pictures of the suits you particularly like or dislike?

I love mine. I have 3 pairs. One of the best suits I have bought. True to size and feel great on.

They have some really smart designs. I want another pair.

I wish the sides were smaller

also the option to buy the suit without that logo on the butt. the patterns are so great, but I cant stand the basic font of the logo being plastered across my butt.

I just measured some. I have a size 32" butt and they're all 55mm sides at the seam. I think they look right, but opinions will vary.

Opinion on Budgy Smuggler suits

I’m not a big fan of the logo across the butt either. But love the different patterns, colors, and overall humorous designs. They are pricey too.

There are not many without the logo. Bold&Beautiful swim squad, Batyr and Winx I think don't have it.

I love what they are doing for swimwear in Australia, getting jock type guys to get into speedos, and their prints are great and super creative - but I have to say I actually hate wearing them. I have bought a few pairs, and the cut really flattens out your bulge and is uncomfortable. I never ended up wearing them more than once.

I do admit big logos are a turn-off for me.

Love the prints, love the fit, love the comfort. Not too keen on the bum logo.

If you're going with Aussie cossies — swim briefs were invented Down Under — check out Funky Trunks. Team GB is even onboard.

I have two pairs of funky trunks swim briefs and budgy smugglers feel better. They feel a bit rougher than other brands.

I'm guessing in Australia, they're really popular, with a lot of guys wearing them. On this side of the vast ocean, where they're unknown, I'd be a little self-conscious about turning my butt into a walking advertisement. I do like them, though.

I like the Funky Trunks patterns too; haven’t purchased any yet —sides look wider than I prefer for a swim brief. Prices are better for Funky Trunks than Budgy Smugglers.

I'll check those out. Don't mind a wider side so long as the suit fits tight enough.
